Three new Disney Channel Original Movies announced
“Princess Protection Program”
Starring Demi Lovato, Selena Gomez (”Wizards of Waverly Place”) and Tom Verica, “Princess Protection Program” centers on a teenage princess who must escape her country and be placed into a top-secret protection program. Hidden in the home of its lead agent, she now must learn to fit in as an average teenager and, ultimately, show the agent’s insecure daughter that she too has all the qualities of a true “princess.” Written by Annie DeYoung (Disney Channel’s “Johnny Kapahala: Back on Board”) and David Morgasen (”Son of the Beach”), the movie is directed by Allison Liddi-Brown (”Friday Night Lights”), produced by Danielle Weinstock (”Weeds”) and executive-produced by Doug Sloan (Disney Channel’s “Minutemen”). It will premiere during the 2008-09 season
“Dadnapped”
Starring Emily Osment, Jason Earles and Moises Arias (each of “Hannah Montana”), David Henrie (”Wizards of Waverly Place”) and Phill Lewis (”The Suite Life of Zack & Cody”), “Dadnapped” is a story of Melissa, a girl who’s left frustrated that her father, a best-selling author, is totally preoccupied with the hero of his spy novels, Tripp Zoome, and the fan activities surrounding the character. During a long overdue father-daughter vacation, her dad goes missing, and now it’s up to Melissa to muster the courage and know-how to find him… which suddenly puts her in the midst of her own adventurous plot. “Dadnapped” was written by Alan Silberberg (”Doug”), executive-produced by Doug Sloan (Disney Channel’s “Minutemen”) and directed by Paul Hoen (Disney Channel’s “Jump In” and upcoming Disney Channel Original Movie, “The Cheetah Girls One World”).
“Hatching Pete”
Jason Dolley (”Cory in the House,” “Minutemen”) and Mitchel Musso (”Hannah Montana”) star in “Hatching Pete,” the story of shy high school student who’s struggling to be noticed, especially by a special girl he’s admired for so long. Then his best friend, Poole, must quietly take a break from performing as the school’s chicken mascot, and unbeknownst to the fans, he convinces Pete to stand in for him. Once Pete dons the chicken suit, a whole new outgoing personality emerges, and it not only captivates the school but the whole town. Meanwhile Poole reaps the benefits of Pete’s dynamic performances, including a new girlfriend. Now unassuming Pete must decide if he wants everyone to know who the funny guy truly is.
Also announced were the third season of the top-rated series for Kids age 6-14, “Hannah Montana,” and second seasons for the hit series “Wizards of Waverly Place” and the animated comedy “Phineas and Ferb.”
Is There Another Cinderella Story 2?
The JOnas Brothers Talk About Camp Rock 2
With the overwhelming success of their hit Disney Channel movie “Camp Rock,” it seems as though the Jonas Brothers could be planning a sequel.
Regarding the possibility of a second installment, star Meaghan Jette Martin says: “I really hope they come back. A lot of the Disney people have talked about a sequel, and I’ve heard rumors about scripts and stuff. I would really like a love interest.”
She also alluded to some sibling rivalry already between the three heartthrobs, adding “One of them wanted winter camp. And one of them wanted Camp Hawaii.”
At Sunday’s Teen Choice Awards, Joe Jonas revealed, “We’ve been looking into scheduling when we can do that because we’ve been busy with touring, but we would love to.”
He continued, “The success from the first one – we did not expect that at all, and the possibility of a second movie would be great.” When asked about a potential storyline for part two Joe, who played a lead in part one, suggested, “Maybe, like a rival camp.”
A Disney Channel rep confirms that a sequel is in fact in the works and that the brothers would like to premiere the movie in Central Park and serve pizza from their favorite New York City restaurant.
Camp Rock 2 New News
The new Camp Rock 2 movie will star the Jonas Brothers and most of the main characters are returning.
Think of it as High School Musical 3 and how it’s now senior year - that’s what the Camp Rock sequel will be all about - same fun people, new year
Frankie Jonas, aka Bonus Jonas, will play a part in the camp hijinks
Filming locations have been set and auditions for extras will begin in July/August 2008.
The new Camp Rock 2 movie will be filmed at Camp Wanakita in Haliburton, Ontario and Kilcoo Camp in Minden, Ontario.
Principal filming will take place after the Jonas Brothers Burning Up tour wraps up in September. How that all fits in around the Disney Channel show J.O.N.A.S.! whose production went on hiatus after the writers strike, I have no idea.

Miley Cyrus still adjusting to life as a superstar
Miley Cyrus has become a teen idol playing the squeaky-clean heroine of "Hannah Montana," the smash-hit television series about a normal adolescent who leads a double life as a pop star.
Yet as the 16-year-old Disney protege continues her meteoric rise in cinemas this week with the release of "Hannah Montana: The Movie", Cyrus admits there is one role that she is still getting used to: superstar.
"People are always saying I’m over-working and over-exposed and that I want the attention but that's not what I want at all," Cyrus told a recent press conference ahead of her film's release in North America this Friday.
"I can’t help it if there are 40 photographers outside my house, I try to keep my life as private as I can," Cyrus adds.
"If I had known coming into this that I would have all those photographers outside my house I might have given it all a second thought."
In just three short years since the first season of "Hannah Montana" made its debut on the Disney Channel, Cyrus has become a fully-fledged phenomenon.
As well as the success of "Hannah Montana", which is now into its third season, Cyrus has launched a successful solo singing career with both of her first two albums debuting at the top of the charts.
The Nashville-born teenager has also enjoyed record-breaking concert tours, helped create designs for a "Hannah Montana" clothing line and recently voiced a character in the hit animated film "Bolt."
The youngster's success led to her inclusion on Forbes.com's "Celebrity 100" list, where she ranked at 35 with estimated earnings of 25 million dollars between 2007 and 2008.
Cyrus's emergence has not been without the occasional hitch, although she has never suffered the sort of negative publicity that has bedeviled two other former Disney child stars, Britney Spears and Lindsay Lohan.
A semi-naked portrait of the child star by celebrity photographer Annie Leibovitz for Vanity Fair magazine last year triggered an outcry, with parents reportedly outraged by the shoot.
Cyrus, who later distanced herself from the photos, freely admits that she has to follow a steep learning curve.
"I'm going to make mistakes and I wouldn’t trade that for anything because I always say the minute you stop making mistakes is the minute you stop learning," she says.
"I never want to disappoint people and my decisions sometimes not only disappoint other people, but disappoint myself as well. If I don’t then, all of a sudden I am not real and then you really can’t look up to me."
Nevertheless she is uncomfortable with being regarded as an idol.
"If you look at me as a role model I agree with it, but if you look at me as an idol, I don't," Cyrus said.
"An idol for me is someone you want to replicate, you want to be them and I don't wish that on anyone, to lose what they have personally."
Cyrus' father, country singer Billy Ray Cyrus, has had a ringside seat at his daughter's spectacular emergence as a showbusiness powerhouse, having appeared in both the television series and the movie.
"This movie is for all of us a celebration of our lives and art imitating life imitating art," Cyrus says.
"We are celebrating the journey we've been on for the last few years. It's about remembering who you are, where you're going and where you've come from."
"The most important law to me is to stay Miley's best friend, sometime I'm her psychologist. We came into this thing as best friends. I have full confidence in my daughter and her professional decisions."
Meanwhile "Hannah Montana" director Peter Chelsom says Cyrus has a star quality comparable to some of Hollywood's most famous names.
"I didn't know who Cyrus or Hannah Montana were when my agent asked me if I'd be interested in directing the flick," Chelsom said. "Later, I caught an appearance by Miley on Oprah. I was blown away.
"I just thought, you know there is no way this girl shouldn't be ranked with Shirley Temple or Judy Garland."

Hannah Montana:The Movie Info
Hannah sings a song, "Crazy", at Lilly's Sweet Sixteen, which causes a lot of mayhem.Miley is becoming overwhelmed with Hannah's popularity. Robby manages to persuade Miley to travel to her hometown, Crowley Corners, Tennessee, to reflect about the things that really matter in her life
Miley chose to go to as Hannah which causes alot of mayhem. Both Miley and Robbie have love interests, Miley's old friend Travis Brody (Lucas Till) plays Miley's love interest. Robbie's love interest is Melora Hardin. Also, there's some sneaky person played by Peter Gunn who knows and tries to reveal Miley's secret.
Scenes
A few musical numbers will be shown in a carnival in Smiley Hollow (a special events facility in Ridge top, TN, Just outside Greenbrier, TN and just north of Nashville) where there were about 1500 volunteer extras and 500 paid extras on hand
There is a scene filmed at the carnival where Peter Gunn's character is looking for the real Hannah in the crowd and he finds Jackson selling 'Hannah wigs'. Everyone around him looks like Hannah from the back so he is turning them all around looking for the real one.
A song by Taylor Swift will be sung at a restaurant. Another song called "Backwards"(co-written by Marcel and Tony Mullins) will also be featured in the movie
On some scenes, Miley will be riding horses and attending school
There will be a big blowout concert sequence where Dolly Parton was also featured.
A scene was filmed in the Cool Springs Galleria mall (south of Nashville). It was filmed in the woman's shoe department of the Belk's store. Miley Cyrus, Vanessa Williams, and Tyra Banks were all in the scene. Hannah Montana fights with Tyra Banks over a pair of shoes
Some scenes were also filmed at Franklin High School

Miley Cyrus To Perform On 'American Idol'
From one "American Idol" to the next: After a string of visits from "Idol" winners past — as well as this week's head-spinning Lady Gaga performance — the "Idol" stage will be graced by none other than Miley Cyrus on April 15.
While "Idol" has not yet announced the appearance, Cyrus revealed on her Web site on Thursday that she had just pre-taped the performance of her new single, "The Climb," for air in two weeks.
"Miley was so nervous to perform on 'Idol' and just before performing wrote [on her Twitter account], 'Wish me luck ... getting nervous! Time for 'Idol,' " according to an account on her site.
And that wasn't all Cyrus Tweeted about her visit to "Idol" on Wednesday. She also offered the update, "Whoo hoo performing! I love Allison [Iraheta]," she enthused, giving some props to the youngest remaining finalist in the competition, a fellow 16-year-old. A short time later, after taping her performance, Cyrus added, "Just did 'Idol' and met Allison! Vote for Allison, she rocks!!!!"
Following the recent revelation that the group numbers on "Idol" are lip-synched, Cyrus also made sure to explain that, "Just fyi, 'Idol' was pretaped because everrryy performer is pretaped on elimination night, that doesn't mean it's fake! I sang live 100 percent."
Also, FYI, after appearing on Ryan Seacrest's radio show on Thursday morning, Cyrus blasted the "Idol" host on Twitter, writing, "Ryan Seacrest is scaring me!!! HELP! ... Ryan is wayyyy creeeppyyy! ... I am NOT kiddddnggg!"
A spokesperson for "Idol" — which typically does not reveal which artist will appear in the pre-taped performance segment on the next elimination show until the end of the previous elimination show — said she could not confirm Cyrus' appearance at press time. Reports have also surfaced that former "Idol" finalist Jennifer Hudson has pre-taped a performance for the show, but a spokesperson would also not confirm those rumors.
Cyrus also Tweeted that she was totally joking about marrying boyfriend Justin Gaston on Seacrest's show when she said "if he gets a pretty ring," in response to a question about a possible wedding in the future. "I am NOT getting married!" she explained. "I'm 16 and super focused on my career and just livinnggg life!"
